Law firm software: how to choose and what it costs in 2026

By Igor Costa · October 26, 2026 · 7 min read

To choose law firm software, compare four things. How many OAB numbers does capture cover? How many users and cases does the plan allow? Does the finance module issue charges and invoices? How does the data get out? In 2026, published plans run from R$ 79 to R$ 3,790 per month. The DJEN remains the official source for deadlines.

What does law firm software need to have?

It needs to cover the path from case to fees: the publication, the deadline, the schedule, the client and finance. And it needs to let the data out whenever the firm wants.

The table works as a script for the conversation with any vendor:

Function Why it matters Question for the vendor
Publication capture Since May 16, 2025, deadlines run from the DJEN "How many OAB numbers or names does the plan capture?"
Deadline with due date and owner A deadline without an owner is the one that slips "Does every deadline require an owner and an internal deadline?"
Date check Automatic calculation gets local holidays wrong "Does a person confirm the date before it takes effect?"
Schedule and hearings Lawyers live in their phone calendar "Does the schedule sync with Google or Outlook?"
Finance and fees Fees run late when they depend on memory "Does it issue boleto, Pix and invoices?"
Team access Confidentiality is per case, not per firm "Does each lawyer see only their team's cases?"
Access log Internal proof, if a deadline is missed "Is it logged who opened and who completed it?"
Export and API The data belongs to the firm "How do I export everything? Does the API cost extra?"

The first row gained weight in 2025. See how to count deadlines from the DJEN. The finance row has Code of Ethics rules: see what the OAB allows when collecting fees.

How much does law firm software cost in 2026?

Published plans run from R$ 79 to R$ 3,790 per month, not counting setup fees and extra modules. The prices below were taken from the official pages on October 26, 2026.

Software Plan Price per month Users Capture and cases
Astrea (Aurum) Up R$ 209 annual 2 1 name; 150 monitored cases
Astrea (Aurum) Smart R$ 379 annual; R$ 439 monthly 5 3 names; 500 cases
Astrea (Aurum) Company R$ 689 annual 10 5 names; 1,000 cases
Astrea (Aurum) VIP R$ 1,249 annual 30 10 names; 2,000 cases
ADVBOX Essencial From R$ 220 Unlimited 1 capture term
ADVBOX Banca Jurídica From R$ 450 Unlimited 1 term; unlimited cases
ADVBOX Banca Max From R$ 900 Unlimited 25 terms (DJEN)
ADVBOX Elite From R$ 1,800 Unlimited 100 terms (DJEN)
Projuris ADV Start Solo From R$ 79 1 lawyer Not detailed on the page
Projuris ADV Start Compartilhado From R$ 349 Up to 5 With integrated finance and API
EasyJur OS Start R$ 229 Up to 2 1 lawyer with unlimited notices
EasyJur OS Premium R$ 499 Up to 5 1 lawyer with unlimited notices
EasyJur OS Standard R$ 990 Up to 10 2 lawyers with unlimited notices
EasyJur OS Growth+ R$ 3,790 30 or more 10 lawyers with unlimited notices

Four notes on the table:

How do you compare price by firm size?

Compare on the limit your firm will hit first: users, OAB numbers in capture or monitored cases. That is what pushes you to the next plan up.

An example: a firm with 5 people, 4 lawyers and 400 active cases.

Option (example) Plan that fits Price per month The limit that matters
Astrea Company, annual R$ 689 Smart (R$ 379) captures 3 names, and there are 4 lawyers
ADVBOX Banca Max From R$ 900 The lower plans capture 1 term
Projuris ADV Start Compartilhado From R$ 349 Up to 5 users; capture is not detailed on the page
EasyJur OS Premium R$ 499 1 lawyer with unlimited notices; confirm the other 3

The math shows that the entry price is misleading. A firm with several OAB numbers can pay double the entry plan just for capture.

Before deciding, ask the vendor for a written proposal with your number of lawyers, users and cases. A fair comparison uses the same three quantities.

Where do the data and confidentiality sit?

The firm's data sits on the vendor's server, but the responsibility stays with the firm. The contract needs to say how the data gets out and who accesses what.

Three rules weigh on the choice:

In practice, ask the vendor for:

  1. full export in an open format, with a delivery deadline;
  2. access by team or by case, not one login for everyone;
  3. a log of who accessed each case;
  4. the deadline for deleting the data after the contract ends.

How do you switch law firm software without missing a deadline?

Export before signing with the new vendor, migrate what falls due first and check the DJEN throughout the transition. Deadlines do not wait for the migration.

The steps:

  1. Inventory. List active cases, open deadlines, scheduled hearings, fee contracts and documents.
  2. Test export. Ask the current vendor for the export and check a sample of ten cases.
  3. Deadlines and hearings first. Enter in the new system everything due in the next four weeks, with an owner.
  4. Daily DJEN check. During the transition, check the DJEN by each lawyer's OAB number. The new system's capture has no history yet.
  5. Parallel period. The old system stays read-only for a few weeks.
  6. Fees. Migrate contracts with future installments before the next due date.

Avoid switching near the court recess from December 20 to January 20. The team is usually smaller, and the suspended deadlines all start running again on January 21.

Switch the software or add a layer on top?

It depends on what fails. Sometimes the software handles deadlines and cases well, but the client, the fees and the partner are left out. In that case, a layer on top solves it without migration.

Three signs that a full switch makes sense:

Three signs that the layer is enough:

How CERNE solves it

CERNE becomes the firm's system or works on top of the software already in place.

The legal package uses modules already running at CERNE clients: the board with owner and deadline, and approval before anything is sent. See the modules on the law firms page and the path from solo lawyer to large firm.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best law firm software for a small firm?
The one that covers deadlines, capture of publications for every OAB number at the firm, and finance, within your number of users. Compare on the limit of names in capture and monitored cases, which change the price more than the feature list.
How much does law firm software cost in 2026?
On the pages accessed October 26, 2026, entry plans run from R$ 79 (Projuris ADV Start Solo) to R$ 229 (EasyJur Start) per month. On plans capped at 10 users, R$ 689 (Astrea Company, annual) and R$ 990 (EasyJur Standard). ADVBOX does not cap users and changes plan by capture and cases.
Does law firm software capture DJEN notices?
The software captures publications by name or OAB number, with a limit per plan. The capture is a copy of the gazette. The official source is the DJEN, which the CNJ offers free at comunica.pje.jus.br, with search by OAB number.
Who owns the firm's data in law firm software?
Under the LGPD, the firm is the controller and decides on data processing. The vendor is the processor and handles data according to the firm's instructions (art. 39). Require full export and a return deadline in the contract.
How do you switch law firm software without missing a deadline?
Export everything before signing with the new vendor and migrate open deadlines and hearings first. During the transition, check the DJEN by each lawyer's OAB number. Only cancel the old system after checking a sample of cases.
